You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Make it possible to turn each feature on and off

    Make it possible to turn on and off each feature individually in the settings menu.

    Maybe the feature is provided by another plugin for Visual Studio. Maybe the feature makes the solution unstable. Or maybe I simply don't like all of Web Essential's features.

        I can understand that the previous *forced sorting* was a problem. But sometimes, optionally, It can help a lot.

        • CSS: Iterate over css properties

          like when pressing SHIFT+CTRL+ARROW UP/DOWN to Darken/lighten color, or increase/decrease pixels. You can use it too to iterate over CSS properties like:

          border: 1px solid #DDD;

          Doing it over solid would iterate over the border style values.

          • Automatic / Semiautomatic fix all Warnings

            Instead of complaining about '==' should be '===' ... then JUST DO IT !

            or let me fix ALL warnings with right-click context menu... or something.

            at the moment i have to double click all warnings and add the '=' manually, which get really tedious.

            If the solution is obvious, just fix is, eg: missing semicolon and tripple equals.

            • Minify HTML - change filenames

              Whilst it's normal to use xxx.min.css or xxx.min.js, using the xxx.min.html isn't as useful. So, rather than creating the minified .min.html file, use the main html file as the minified version and have xxx.max.html as the original file. This saves renaming files, altering menu links etc.

              • Option to disable URL link rewriting.

                Sometimes the LESS compiler will re-write the URL's in an incorrect manner.

                For instance it turns this.
                background: url('../img/other-contact.jpg') no-repeat center;

                into this:
                background: url(../less/layouts/img/other-contact.jpg) no-repeat center;

                But the final CSS file will not be in the same directory the less file is in. I'd like the ability to turn off the URL rewriting or set a different base directory path.

                • allow the control of sprite margin to manage the values of margin-top,margin-right,margin-bottom,margin-left

                  I'm in need to have the margin of an project sprite have specific "coord" defined to fit in a desired html page block, i.e: .sprite1 { margin: 20px 0};
                  Right now I finding a convoluted way of doing that via Photoshop crop.
                  How to edit the schema to incorporate that extensible property in?
                  I tried by got script syntax errors
                  Thank you

                  • Allow for a remote CSS/JS file in bundle

                    When bundling, it would be great to allow for a remote CSS /JS file to be included in the bundle. This would eliminate the need to manually download the file to the local machine to then get bundled.

                      • Root-relative Sass Imports

                        It would be nice to be able to @import .scss files from the root, so for example instead of:

                        @import "../../scss/_imports.scss";

                        you could import via something like:

                        @import "/scss/_imports.scss";

                        or

                        @import "~/scss/_imports.scss";

                        You could also look into including a sub-directory in the imports, using the -I command line switch, similar to what's suggested here:

                        http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6502313/sass-import-a-file-from-a-different-directory

                        • outputDirectory without URL rewriting

                          When I specify output directory for CSS bundle, all URL (for example image URLs) are rewritten based on output directory path. It would be nice if I can disable this behaviour.

                            I would love to have the autosync feature that exists in _references.js for typescript as well so that it's possible to create a _references.ts file that will be auto-updated when new .ts files are added to the project.

                            • Show related files for an open file

                              When editing an ASPX page for example, often times you need to dive into the related CSS or JS files that help make up your code. It would be slick if there was a "related files" tab\dropdown in VS that provided quick access to open and edit those other files. I would think WE could look at the script\CSS references in the appropriate ASPX\Masterpage files, etc. to determine this chaining.

                                The JSHint analysis tool is constantly updated to support new tools and developer workflows. It would be nice if the user could configure the location/version of jshint. Or at least have web essentials check for a version in the project's local node_modules folder.

                                    • Make "HTML Encode" also avalible for ASPX & ASCX files

                                      At the moment it's only available in HTML files. It would be nice to use it in ASPX files too.
                                      (Workaround to use it also in ASPX files: Go to "Tools/Customize..." and add the necessary web essentials command to the ASPX context menu.

                                      • bundle-config: only remove comments - do not minfiy

                                        I would require to only remove comments of combined bundle of (already minfied) libraries and not to minify them once more

                                        is there a option in the bundle config to achieve this?

                                        • Allow lorem Generator Within Elements

                                          The "lorem" generator seems to only work when you type lorem on a blank line. If the caret is, for example, sitting within a <p></p> and you type lorem <tab>, nothing happens.

                                          In my very humble opinion it would make more sense for the lorem generator to work anywhere I type lorem, followed by a <tab>.
