  1. Allows the Markdown tool to switch between View, Edit or Split view

I use Markdown files in my project to document some key parts of code, or as a catalog of useful classes.

The current Markdown editor renders both View and Edit pane.

I think it would be nice to have the choice between View/Edit or Split layout.

It's a bit similar to html editing. A button allows to switch between modes.

    • Add Integrated support for swagger and AutoREST

It would be cool to integrate Swagger and AutoREST into the IDE.

The options are many. But directly generating SWAGGER documentation and Building a client via AutoREST are obvious.

      • Fix Visual-Studio HTML-tag comment-out

Say I have a div element containing some data.
When trying to comment it out by adding !-- right after it's open-tag (i.e. <!--div>content</div>, VS code-editor responds defaultly by adding a comment closing --> right after it, which result in <!---->div>.

The preferred behavior is that if the comment is at a tag beginning, it should comment out the entire tag, by adding -- at its closing tag, so in our example, adding !-- in the div open tag after the < character, should add -- before the final > character of its closing tag.

          • Configurable Image Preview/Image Url Picker Path

The image preview and image url picker were useful to my project until I started using grunt to bundle my css files together. The project became more complex with css files in multiple directories but the relative path to the images is the same regardless of their directory because their path is the same.

It would be nice to be able to use some configuration to tell Web Essentials what virtual directory your stylesheets are in. Simple example:

These are files in the project:
            ~/Style/Images/img1.png
            ~/Style/Main.css

            Css is bundled here:
            ~/Bundles/Style.css

So, in each of my css files, I'd want…

            • Add a setting to Bundles setup to set the sourceRoot property on the generated .map file

Just started using the Web Essentials bundling feature to join a bunch of js and css files into minified single request files.

However the project is deployed to a virtual directory under the domain which causes the references to the original source files within the minified code and map files to not match their actual locations.

If I could set the sourceRoot property in the .map file, I can get the references to match the locations.

              Example:
              Source Location: https://www.mydomain.com/virtualDirectory/js/component.js
File reference in .bundle file and in sources in bundle.min.js.map file: /js/component.js
When the page tries to retrieve the original…

              • allow giving namespace to handlebars templates

Currently I saw a behavior that the handlebar files got created with the templates going into global variable named on the name of the file. A big project creates lot of clutter in global. We should be allowed to specify a namespace.

                  • Dimesions for image, on hover in solution explorer

Very small change. If you add an image to an html file and you hover other that image you get the height and width properties. Would be nice to be able to hover over the image on the solution explorer , for a quick height and width dimensions to add to a css file.

Hello i am using WebEssentials:create image sprite in visual studio, and i have found a problem where i don't need the css of height and width that generates in the scss parts, so i cleaned them, but when i Updated the sprites it re-generate all the widths and heights again, so there's a way of removing the css generation of web-essentials with an option?

                      Thanks for reading.
Sorry for bad english, this is not my first language.

                          • Add Emmet features: attribute operators, multiplication, nested wrap with tag

Coming from SublimeText, here's what I miss from the Emmet package (and keeps me on Sublime). Note that there may be ways around this stuff that I'm not aware of, so please feel free to fill me in.

                            * Attribute operators don't work by themselves. Typing div. should autocomplete to <div class=" "></div> with autocomplete/Intellisense in the class name. Currently Browser Link uses inline JavaScript which causes Content Security Policy (CSP) violation errors. CSP requires external files to be used for JavaScript and CSS. If you don't know what CSP is see here:
                              https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Security/CSP/Introducing_Content_Security_Policy

As it is, If the user is using CSP then browser link is disabled as inline scripts cannot be run. Please use external files, which will allow us to use CSP in conjunction with Browser Link.

                                  • Add support to EmberJS template precompilation

EmberJS uses a custom HandleBars template compiler.
When using .hbs file is Visual Studio, Web Essentials compiles this template in the standard HandleBars format, which does not work with Ember.

It would be nice to have the possibility to choose between standard HandleBar template or EmberJS custom one (maybe a property in the property grid of the file?)

As a side note, I workaround this behavior with the combinaison of GRuntJS, Grunt Launcher extension and Task Runner extension.

                                    • Add Bootlint support

Bootlint is the official HTML linter tool for Twitter Bootstrap. Since Microsoft uses Bootstrap out of the box, it would be nice to be able to validate any markup made with it.

                                        • JavaScript debugging with source maps

Support JavaScript debugging with source maps. This would enable debugging of JS bundles generated by browserify or webpack.
